Here are the steps you need to take to register for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website.
- Click here to go to the Registration website
- Click continue to get to the log-in page and enter you user ID and password
- Medicaid Professionals will only need their NPI number
- Medicare Professionals will need their (1) NPI number and (2) PECOS or NPPES user ID and password.
If you do not have an active PECOS or NPPES username and password, please request one here - Click the registration tab on the new page and select "register" under "Registration Selection"
- Click "Start Registration" at the bottom of the page and proceed to complete the registration pages
- Once registered, you will see a successful submission screen. Print a copy of this screen as you will not receive an email confirmation.
- If you are registering for the *Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, wait 24 hours and then go to the State registration site to enroll in the state program

*The NY State Medicaid EHR Incentive Program has not launched yet. It is estimated that NY will be begin to accept registrations for its Medicaid EHR Incentive Program in September 2011. Eligible Professionals (EPs) will not be able to register for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program through the CMS website or the NY State website until that time.
Reminder
Please be sure to select the incentive program that you wish to participate in when registering. You may only select one. Before 2015, you may switch programs only once after your first payment has started.
