What is LIPIX?

LIPIX is an independent not-for-profit corporation established to develop a Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO), aka a Health Information Exchange (HIE), on Long Island

Our Mission

To fundamentally improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare for the betterment of patients, providers, and LIPIX, in that order.

Our Vision

To organize the world’s health information and make it globally accessible and useful while maintaining patient privacy

 

Secondary Goals

* Foster collaboration amongst disparate health care entities.

* Promote interoperability through the use of nationally defined standards.

* Create project monitoring and evaluation tools to measure clinical benefits and reductions in inappropriate utilization and cost associated with HIEs.

* Demonstrate improvements in public health through the implementation of innovative functionality to support regional public health initiatives.

* Create a revenue model that provides financial sustainability to HIE projects.

NEW YORK AWARDS $105 MILLION IN HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GRANTS
Governor David A. Paterson announced today that $105 million in grants have been awarded to 19 leading community-based health information technology (IT) projects. Grants range from $1 million to $10 million each.
